RT+Q’s approach to design and architecture is predicated on the belief that design thinking must evolve in the most unsuspecting of ways. Design must transcend itself to invoke, provoke and evoke.

Central to RT+Q’s work is the ’counter-intuitive’ manner in which design aspirations and pragmatic demands co-exist. Questions are continuously asked even when, and especially after, solutions seem done and correct.

From tombstones to bus stops to high-rise blocks and after 110 houses (and counting), RT+Q still treats every project as a separate design inquiry. In every project, regardless of scale or type – old values are summoned to confront current challenges in search of the next new idea.

While RT+Q believes architecture is a serious endeavour and that the beauty of form and space must remain architecture’s fundamental concern, RT+Q has two simple daily reminders for the team: ‘never think like an Architect’ and ‘never take oneself too seriously’.
